Nuro AI Delivering Groceries And Pizza

With the first commercial drone delivery having taken place earlier this year by Flirtey for 7 Eleven, it seems the Americans are powering on with matching driverless auto-motion and foodstuff distribution. Introducing SATORI & SCOUT's latest scouting: Nuro, the electric vehicle startup company which was once founded by two ex-Google employees.

Revealing their first prototype in 2018 and more recently a partnership with Kroger (the largest supermarket chain in USA), together they aim to deliver (pun intended) a world that has driverless grocery deliveries. Super-simple four-wheeled pods that feature four storage compartments (two on each side) which upon destination arrival, open automatically at the command of a customer, the small mode of transport by Nuro AI seems something that really ought to be a reality. With intention to also one day extend the idea beyond groceries and into dry cleaning and pizza delivery, what does the future hold for autonomous delivery?

On pilot trial in Scottsdale (USA), this unique method of transport can be initiated by using Kroger's website (or smartphone app), and upon successful shopping, all deliveries are made either same-day or next-day. With only a small fee to pay for any delivery, such an idea is a real game changer in time saving in all our busy lives, let alone the thought of going grocery shopping when you'd just rather stay at home.

As Nuro CEO Dave Ferguson explained to Techcrunch, "...We're proud to contribute and turn our vision for local commerce into a real, accessible service that residents of scottsdale can use immediately.
